Contract: MC Lecturer, Whole Time, Permanent

Salary: Lecturer Salary, Scale Point 12 - 16, £39,364- £43,562 per annum

Reporting to: Associate Director Curriculum, Digital

Annual Leave: 45 per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum based on full time

Up to 7 hours abatement for the role of Curriculum Leader depending on allocated duties.

Pension: Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

 

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Curriculum Team Leader to provide strong academic leadership and operational management across a curriculum area. You will lead and support curriculum teams to deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring outstanding outcomes for students and apprentices. Working closely with senior leaders, you will drive quality improvement, performance management and curriculum development, while upholding the College’s strategic ambitions, core values and commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide an example of academic excellence within the course team.
  • To undertake all operational management of the curriculum area.
  • To undertake all aspects of line management of the team including performance appraisals of staff, monitoring and development.
  • To promote innovative teaching and learning approaches, and implement the Learning, Teaching & Assessment Strategy.
  • To carry out lesson observations and ‘walk throughs’ including feeding back to staff.
  • To ensure that staff are fully prepared for internal and external inspection.

 

Qualifications

  • To hold a relevant qualification at Degree level.
  • To be a qualified Teacher or must be prepared to commence an appropriate teaching qualification on appointment to the post.
  • Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities.
  • Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) or willing to work towards it.
  • Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities – Desirable.
  • To be willing to work towards Middlesbrough College’s Advanced Practitioner Programme

Experience

  • Relevant current experience and knowledge of Digital curriculum

 

Knowledge & Skill

  • Current knowledge of developments and challenges including emerging technologies such as AI, cyber security and cloud computing
  • Up-to-date subject knowledge in at least one specialist area (e.g. software development, cyber security, data/AI, networking or cloud technologies)
  • Understanding of industry practices and ability to translate these into engaging, practical learning experiences
  • Ability to design and deliver industry-relevant, project-based and student-centred learning
  • Knowledge of career pathways and progression routes within the digital and computing sector
