We are excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our Progression Studies department. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role in ensuring all aspects of the students’ support requirements are met during their time at college. Your role will involve assisting in classroom activities, supporting individual learning plans, and fostering an inclusive environment for students with diverse needs, while being an integral part of our thriving academic community.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide high quality learning support to ensure all aspects of the students’ requirements for support are met whilst they are in college
- Demonstrate high levels of ambition for students within target setting and everyday practice.
- Work effectively with teaching staff, cross college colleagues and outside agencies to ensure provision is of the highest standard and that practices implemented are in line with college policies and procedures.
- Assist Progression Studies staff in ensuring all department’s learning environments are conducive to learning and inviting to students.
- Assist students to develop independent learning and study skills, including managing their behaviour, time, and work.
- Assist students in the use of educational aids and personal equipment provided by the college or outside bodies.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek candidates who:
- Hold an appropriate Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in supporting students with learning difficulties or care needs or demonstrate a commitment to achieving this within an agreed timescale.
- Have achieved Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Are willing to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Possess a vocational qualification at Level 2 (desirable).
- Hold a Safe Lifting and Handling qualification (desirable).
- Hold a First Aid qualification (desirable).
- Have knowledge or experience of working with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Have vocational experience in a relevant subject area (desirable).
