Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Sociology and Criminology Lecturer to join our team at MC6, Middlesbrough College’s thriving Sixth Form Centre. In this role, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across AQA A Level Sociology and the WJEC Diploma in Criminology, inspiring students to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need for success in education, life, and work. You will play a vital role in helping learners achieve their full academic potential and progress to higher education, training, or employment.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Teacher of A level Sociology and Criminology, you will:
- Plan a program of study for the curriculum being delivered that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning, specific subject content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work and student feedback meets Middlesbrough College Standards.
- Be prepared to offer pastoral support and feed into the Thrive programme of tutorial and enrichment opportunities for students in line with the college’s tutorial standards and in order to develop students Personal Development beyond the curriculum.
- Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the delivery of the Middlesbrough College teaching and learning Strategy
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
- Promote numeracy and literacy in all teaching and learning practices.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek candidates who:
- To be a qualified Teacher
- To hold a relevant Degree, or equivalent.
- GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Relevant experience of teaching A level Sociology and/or Level 3 Criminology
- Experience in planning and delivering exam-based qualifications.
- Track record of good and outstanding teaching outcomes.
- Current knowledge of IAG relating to career opportunities in associated areas for post-16 learners and current HE progression routes

turer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) & QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
