Join Our Team 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in English to join our Motor Vehicle & Welding team. As a Lecturer in English, you will be delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that bring the subject to life for a diverse range of learners. You will guide students through everything from classic literature to modern language skills, ensuring they feel supported, challenged, and inspired along the way. Whether it is designing creative lessons, giving practical feedback, or helping learners see how English connects to the world around them, your teaching will make a real difference. You will support students throughout their time at college, helping them achieve their goals and take the next step in their academic or professional journey, while contributing to a vibrant and collaborative academic environment.

 

What You will Be Doing: 

As a Lecturer in English, you will:

  • Plan, deliver, and manage high-quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in English.
  • Support students’ academic progress and personal development, helping them to reach their full potential.
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that link classroom learning to real-world contexts.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the learner experience and respond effectively to diverse student needs.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression by providing personalised guidance and support.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

We seek candidates who:

  • Are qualified teachers or willing to work towards**.
  • Hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Have GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge and experience in teaching English.
  • Have experience of teaching GCSE English in either a school or further education setting and delivering exam-based qualifications (desirable).
  • Have experience of providing pastoral support—for example, acting as a personal tutor or supporting learner wellbeing (desirable).

*The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS.  To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
