Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Are you passionate about shaping the future of the construction industry? We’re looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Civil Engineering to join our team and inspire the next generation of civil engineers and design surveyors. You will be responsible for delivering T Level and BTEC courses in Civil Engineering and Design Surveying, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all associated modules. This includes overseeing in-year delivery, monitoring learner progress, and supporting achievement. The role requires experience/qualification in Assessment and IQA procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Lecturer in Civil Engineering you will:
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Liaise with Awarding Organisation EQA's, arrange visits and present portfolios for validation at periods throughout the year.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough Colleges standards.
- Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek candidates who:
- Are qualified Teachers with Cert Ed and Assessors Award.
- Hold experience/qualification in Assessment and IQA procedures.
- To hold a minimum of a Level 3/4 in Construction and the Built Environment area i.e. Civil Engineering / Design Surveying and Planning.
- GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.

*The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) & QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
