Annual Leave: 30 days + bank holidays
Hours: 37 per week (including evenings and weekends)
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Middlesbrough College, TS2 1AD
The Role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Security Supervisor to support the delivery of high‑quality facilities services across the College. This includes porterage, post and goods handling, concierge duties, cleaning, minor maintenance, car park support, and fire evacuation assistance.
You will play an active role in the College Safety Team, maintain First Aid and SIA certifications, and deliver a friendly, efficient response to all service requests. The role also involves flexible working, supporting departmental projects, liaising with contractors, and contributing to continuous service improvements. A strong commitment to Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, and ongoing professional development is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient and effective estates service across the College, including porterage, goods and post services, concierge support, fire evacuation assistance, cleaning, goods yard operation, reprographics, minor maintenance, and car parking services.
- Play a full part in the College Safety Team, including maintaining a good understanding of Safeguarding responsibilities.
- Gain and maintain SIA registration for Door Supervision and CCTV operation (including recorded image handling in line with legislation).
- Act as an appointed First Aider and maintain valid First Aid certification.
- Participate in flexible working arrangements, including shift patterns, weekend cover, and the emergency call‑out rota.
- Assist colleagues in the Facilities Management Department with wider tasks as required.
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance.
- Liaise with contractors and external agencies as appropriate.
- Participate in staff appraisal, training needs analysis and support departmental development activities.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential:
Hold or be willing to work towards appointed person First Aid status.
Hold or be willing to work towards IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
Experience in one or more of the following:-
-Porterage
-Internal goods/post services
-Concierge duties
-Fire evacuation support
-Cleaning
-Goods yard operationStrong communication skills (written, verbal, listening and recall).
Excellent interpersonal and team‑working skills.
Ability to remain professional in challenging situations.
Good observational skills and the ability to think quickly and defuse confrontation.
Desirable:
- Valid SIA Frontline Door Supervisor and/or CCTV Operator licence, or willingness to work towards one.
