Reporting to: Work Placement & Scholarship Team Leader
Salary: £23,555 - £24,631 per annum
Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays
Contractual hours: 37 hours per week
Basis: Full time,Permanent
Pension: NEST
Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD
The Role
The Work Placement Administrator provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Placement Team, ensuring the smooth coordination, monitoring, and delivery of student work placements. The role includes maintaining accurate databases, supporting quality assurance processes, tracking attendance, managing DBS/CSCS requirements, and contributing to wider departmental administration. The post holder plays a key part in supporting the College’s commitment to Equality, Diversity, Quality, and Health & Safety.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets, and tracking systems relating to student work placements.
Monitor and report student attendance/absence and follow up on non‑attendance during placements.
Provide clerical and administrative support for placement quality procedures and documentation.
Manage and support the DBS and CSCS card processes for placement students.
Set up and maintain efficient clerical systems to support Placement Coordinators and wider team operations.
Work flexibly across the department, supporting general administrative duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong IT skills, including confident use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
- Excellent administrative, organisational, and filing skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
- Commitment to Equality & Diversity, Quality standards, and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, adapting to changing departmental needs.
- Desirable: Interest in developing office IT systems and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
