Job Title: Technical Technician - TTE

Location: Middlesbrough College, TS2 1AD

Contract Type: NSG Business Support – Full Time, Permanent

Salary: Business Support Scale 5, Points 20–22, £25,276.17 to £27,604.36 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Annual Leave: 30 days plus statutory Bank Holidays

Pension Scheme: NEST

 

Join Our Team

Are you practical, organised, and passionate about supporting engineering education? We are looking for a proactive and skilled Technician to join our TTE team.  This is a hands-on role supporting teaching staff in a workshop environments and ensuring the smooth running of practical lessons. You’ll be responsible for stock control, equipment maintenance, workshop preparation, and assisting students and lecturers during classes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stock of consumables and equipment, including deliveries and secure storage.
  • Prepare workshops ahead of practical sessions and support teaching staff during lessons.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and maintenance routines in line with Health & Safety procedures.
  • Maintain tidy and safe workshop and storage areas.
  • Support students during practical activities and contribute to their learning experience.
  • Support workshop modifications.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to professional development and mandatory training.

Desirable:

  • Relevant trade qualification in Engineering.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a workshop or stores environment.
  • Ability to carry out engineering workshop activities and manage equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering workshop rules and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • IT skills appropriate to the role.
