The role

 

Are you passionate about raising standards, driving excellence, and ensuring every learner has a transformational college experience.  Middlesbrough College is seeking an outstanding Associate Director of Quality to join our central Quality & Performance team—working across our diverse faculties, including dynamic technical areas such as Engineering.  This is an opportunity to shape quality across a forward-thinking college, influence sector-leading practice, and make a measurable impact on thousands of learners.

 

As an Associate Director of Quality, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening and championing quality assurance and continuous improvement across the College. You will work closely with faculty leadership teams, particularly in curriculum areas like Engineering, to ensure that programmes are ambitious, inclusive, and fully aligned with industry expectations.

 

You will be the lead in quality compliance, curriculum standards, and the sharing of best practice, acting as the driving force behind initiatives that inspire colleagues and empower learners to achieve exceptional outcomes.

In this high-impact role, you will:

  • Shape and drive an ambitious quality strategy that ensures outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment.

  • Lead faculty review, monitoring, and improvement processes—ensuring accountability, high expectations and consistent excellence.

  • Influence curriculum development so that all learners benefit from challenging, industry-relevant programmes.

  • Oversee key quality processes including Self-Assessment, Quality Improvement Planning, internal/external verification, and the At-Risk process.

  • Champion learner voice, inclusion, and equality and diversity—ensuring every learner feels seen, supported, and set up for success.

  • Work collaboratively with Awarding Bodies to ensure smooth, accurate and timely communication.

  • Support faculty leadership teams with reliable data, insightful analysis, and interventions that drive improvement.

  • Inspire teams you work with through coaching and support with professional development.

You will bring:

  • Credibility as a degree educated, experienced qualified teacher and quality professional, with a passion for continuous improvement.

  • A strong background in quality assurance within the FE sector.

  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and leadership skills.

  • The ability to motivate teams, navigate change, and influence at all levels.

  • Experience of working with key FE systems such as ProAchieve, ProMonitor and ProSolution.
