An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of Applied Science to join the team at MC6, Middlesbrough College’s dedicated Sixth Form Centre. This is a fantastic role for a dynamic educator looking to deliver a diverse, engaging curriculum as part of the Level 3 BTEC Applied Science qualification, including work-related and practical units.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Teacher of Applied Science, you will:
- Plan and deliver outstanding lessons across a range of units in the Level 3 BTEC Applied Science qualification, tailored to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Provide both theoretical and practical instruction to support students’ academic and vocational development.
- Embed real-world applications and employability skills into your teaching to prepare learners for university, apprenticeships, or STEM careers.
- Play a key role in supporting student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to an inclusive, aspirational, and high-performing sixth form environment.
- Offer pastoral and academic support to help students reach their full potential.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek candidates who:
- Hold a relevant science degree and are either a qualified teacher or willing to work towards a teaching qualification. **
- Have GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Bring experience of teaching Level 3 Science, ideally with a specialism in Biology or Physics.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a commitment to delivering engaging, high-impact learning experiences.
- Are passionate about working with 16–19 learners and supporting their academic and personal development.

*The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
